On October 17, 2025, the workshop “Higher Education as a Catalyst for the Trustworthy and Sustainable Use of AI” – TrustAI took place at the Ruse Chamber of Commerce.
The event brought together representatives from business, academia, and AI experts, and was jointly organized by Prof. Georgi Dimitrov and Prof. Evgeniya Kovacheva from the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (UniBIT), together with Mr. Krasimir Enimanev, Chairman of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce.
The main message of the workshop was clear: artificial intelligence is no longer reserved for tech giants – it has become a real opportunity for growth and competitiveness in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Discussions and demonstrations highlighted how modern AI tools can be easy to use, affordable, and effective, even for entrepreneurs without a technical background.
“Today, AI can support business operations just like office software transformed the way we worked years ago — no complex setups, no need for programmers,” noted Prof. Georgi Dimitrov, who presented practical examples of how AI can be applied to resource management, process optimization, and customer service improvement.
Prof. Evgeniya Kovacheva emphasized the crucial role of higher education in enabling the trustworthy and sustainable use of AI.
“Education is the key — when people understand how AI works and how to use it responsibly, it becomes a partner rather than a threat,” she said.
Mr. Krasimir Enimanev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, encouraged local business leaders to view AI as a driver of innovation and development, capable of improving efficiency and sustainability across small enterprises in the region.
Throughout the workshop, participants exchanged ideas and experiences related to automation of routine tasks, personalized customer solutions, and data-driven decision-making, demonstrating the tangible benefits of adopting AI in everyday business practice.
The event concluded with the shared understanding that artificial intelligence is now an accessible tool for every entrepreneur aiming to grow in the modern digital economy.
