TrustAI Project Update: Shaping Ethical AI Education Across Europe

The TrustAI consortium held an online meeting this week to continue its joint mission of promoting the trustworthy and sustainable integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into higher education across Europe.

This collaborative initiative, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, brings together leading universities, research centers, and innovative organizations with the shared goal of ensuring that the next generation of students and educators can confidently and responsibly navigate the ethical, social, and technological dimensions of AI.

🧩 Project Progress

During the meeting, the partners reviewed key milestones and ongoing activities within two main work packages:

✅ Work Package 2 (WP2) – AI Curriculum for the Humanities
The consortium is finalizing and preparing the peer review of the TrustAI curriculum modules. These microlearning units are designed to empower humanities students to understand, analyze, and apply AI ethically and critically in their academic and professional practice.

✅ Work Package 3 (WP3.A1) – Understanding Educators’ Needs
The research phase of WP3.A1 has been successfully completed. Over 60 higher education lecturers from various European countries shared valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of teaching digital and AI-related topics in the humanities. The collected data will inform the development of innovative learning materials and training resources.

🚀 What’s Next

The consortium is now preparing for the co-creation of new microlearning resources as part of WP3. This next phase will be discussed in detail during the upcoming in-person partner meeting in Malta 🇲🇹, hosted by MECB Ltd. in September 2025.

💡 Towards an Ethical and Sustainable AI Future

By combining academic expertise, pedagogical innovation, and ethical awareness, TrustAI is paving the way toward a more human-centered and sustainable educational ecosystem for Artificial Intelligence.

The consortium extends its sincere appreciation to all partners for their continued dedication, professionalism, and contribution to building a sustainable digital future for higher education.
